Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer.

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer.  Radon is an odorless and tasteless gas and has been found in every state.  If you have not tested your home air and well water for radon it is important that you do so.  Test kits from a registered testing lab are about $60.00 or less.

Need funding for radon air abatement systems?

Free Me from Lung Cancer may be able to help through our Normand Dubreuil Radon Air Abatement System Program.  Normand was a board member who passed away on September 10th, 2017 after a courageous battle with lung cancer.  Normand always looked for ways to help those less fortunate and we thought that this program would be in line with Normand’s legacy of helping others.  The grant will allow single-family low-income homeowners funding for a radon air abatement system while funds are available. I got in touch with Aaron at Quality Radon, I explained how my Radon levels were extremely high. He put me in touch with Debra at Free ME from Lung Cancer. Debra was great and helped me through the process with papers that we needed to send her and what my next steps were. She’s an amazing women and so very kind. Aaron and his son came over and got he work done, they did a great job. Aaron was great about answering questions I had and explained the system to me. I’m happy to report that just after 24hrs of having the system installed my levels went from over 7 down to .6. I reset my continuous radon monitor today, so that takes a week for calibration, but Aaron said if there were any issues to call back and let him know. I’m so happy to see the levels so low.

I just want to say thank you to Debra and everyone at Free ME from Lung Cancer for everything. Thank you to Aaron at Quality Radon and his son for the great work you guys did. Thanks to all of you, you made my house safer for my son, which is my main concern.

I’m so thankful for Free ME from Lung Cancer that help Maine people be able to live safer and healthier lives. You guys are amazing.

I have been so lucky to find Deb and her organization, Free ME from Lung Cancer. Without her help I wouldn’t have the life saving radon remediation my home desperately needed. Free ME from Lung Cancer is a wonderful organization that brings the ‘not often thought of’ reality of lung cancer to the forefront. Life House Maine wants to thank Free ME From Lung Cancer organization for helping us keep our staff, our mothers and their babies healthy. Life House Maine was able to purchase a beautiful home to welcome single mothers, but testing showed major radon issues. Back when I purchased my home over 20 years ago now, radon testing was not mandatory for selling or buying a home and so it wasn’t until recently when my friend bought her home she explained to me that she had to have a radon test done and it turned out to come back with high levels so she had to have something done about it. After she explained to me the dangers of high radon levels in your home, and what it could potentially do, I was scared. I decided to test my home right away and I too learned that my house had high radon levels. I was very nervous at that point and so after looking into who I should call, I contacted John Dyer and he explained to me the steps of the process and what I needed to do next and he put me in touch with Debra who was tremendously helpful with getting things going right away. I also have to say that the wonderful guys from BE SAFE radon testing and mitigation were very quick to respond and they got the job done faster than I expected them to . They were very very helpful, they had excellent communication with me and did a wonderful job. Every step of this process went smoothly and I am so thankful and so grateful for this program, without it I don’t know what I would’ve done. Thank you again.

Thank you and your company so very much for your generosity. When I learned that the radon levels were extremely high, I didn’t know where to turn or what to do. 

When I purchased my home, testing for radon wasn’t a thing. 

I appreciate your help through the entire process. You were very quick to reply to my request, and even quicker to get the system installed after we learned what the radon levels were. 

Connor from Crawford Electric did an excellent job with the install. He was very knowledgeable and did great work. He answered all of my questions and showed me exactly how the system works and what to do and who to call if there is an issue. 

I cannot thank you enough for the funding to make this project happen. It allows me to sleep better at night knowing we are not breathing in that toxic radon gas.
